Here at SD Business Management, we want to make a difference. Like most accountants, we have an interest in improving the lives of our clients. Unlike most accountants, our commitment to improving people’s lives doesn’t stop there. In that capacity, we support two principle charities – Marie Curie and New Ways; and two larger organisations - B1G1 and Rotary International. As members of Buy1GIVE1 (B1G1), we have embedded giving into the fabric of our businesses. When you decide to work with us, you are automatically helping to change the world as our contributions are based on client fees.
Rotary International is a global organisation whose members are united in their philosophy of “service above self.” The organisation often works on a local level to raise funds for charity, but arguably Rotary’s most notable aim is the complete eradication of Polio in conjunction with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Stephen’s membership of the Glasgow North and Bishopbriggs chapter has seen him raise over £50,000 in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the largest sources of hospice beds in the UK, behind the NHS. It offers care and support to terminally ill cancer patients and their families. Stephen was instrumental in raising money for their Big Build campaign to build a new hospice in Glasgow, not just in the £80,000 raised with his team mates on charity cycle trips but also by helping out by organising and volunteering for events.

New Ways is a charity decicated to improving the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. They focus on developing communities in order to promote sustainability and independence through developing infrastructure, good agricultural and fishing practices, as well as access to good quality water, nutrition and education. Importantly, New Ways aims to keep their administrative costs below 5% to ensure that as much money as possible goes straight to their projects.
